AMAHOF Award Categories & Award Citation
a). Category: Martial Arts Legend
Award Citation: A Martial Artist displaying over 40 years service to martial arts demonstrating skills, knowledge, instructional ability, administration and leadership at levels of high repute and professionalism and has constantly displayed these qualities consistently at the highest of levels while continuing to support the development of martial arts and the mentoring and empowerment of others at an exceptional level of excellence.
b). Category: Life-Time Achievement
Award Citation: A Martial Artist displaying over 35 years of continuous service to martial arts development, having achieved a high level within at least one martial art while continuing to demonstrate the highest levels of experience, skill, knowledge, instructional ability, administration, professionalism and leadership who is over the age of 50 years and continues to support the development of martial arts and the mentoring and empowerment of others.
c). Category: Martial Artist of the Year
Award Citation: A Martial Artist displaying over 25 years of continuous service, significantly contributing to martial arts development, achieving a minimum of Yondan (4th Dan or equivalent) in a martial art and having demonstrated a consistently high level of performance as a Martial Artist and as an instructor displaying experience, skill, knowledge, instructional ability, administration and leadership that promote the development of martial arts and imbuing such qualities within others.
d). Category: Instructor of the Year
Award Citation: A Martial Artist displaying over 20 years of continuous service to martial arts development achieving a minimum of Yondan (4th Dan or equivalent) in a martial art demonstrating highly developed skills as a Martial Artist while displaying the qualities of an instructor at consistently high levels of experience, skill, knowledge, instructional ability and administration.
e). Category: Budoka of the Year
Award Citation: A Martial Artist displaying over 15 years of continuous service to martial arts development, achieving a minimum of Sandan (3rd Dan or equivalent) in a martial art and has consistently demonstrated experience, skills, knowledge, instructional ability and administration that has supported the development of martial arts.
f). Support to the Development of Martial Arts
Award Citation: A Martial Artist or an individual displaying a minimum of 10 years support for the development of martial arts, demonstrating exceptional voluntary service, support and commitment to the martial arts that has enabled its development and the empowerment of others.
Notes:
- The Category of Martial Arts Legend award will be awarded by the AMAHOF Executive Committee to an INTERNAL AMAHOF member with the award being limited normally to one award per Awards Year. It may NOT be awarded every year.
- Existing AMAHOF Members can be raised in status by an AMAHOF Internal Award if approved by the Executive Committee/PEC/Directors of AMAHOF.
- Limitations of time between inductions and reasonable attendance/assistance at AMAHOF Awards will be a pre-requisite for the consideration of AMAHOF Internal Awards.
- The dispensation of awards within the AMAHOF Award Categories is determined after a full review of Inductee Nominees is conducted by the AMAHOF Executive; the findings of the âExecutive Review are then forwarded to the remaining Directors of AMAHOF for Unanimous Agreement.
